..+Compass activity+..

-Maths learning-

for maths we are basing are learning off of direction and maps, for this-task we had to copy a slide and fill in the activities, slide 10, 11, 12, 13, are the ones with the actives I had to do.
slide 10: we had to draw on google drawing a compass,
slide 11: figure out how get from the aquarium to the other enclosures
slide 12: kind of the same one as the 11 one,
slide 13: there is a chart of empty squares, and animals are sitting below, we had to put them into the correct squares based off of the clues.

this seemed like quiet a short cool little activity, I really quiet enjoyed the navigation maps.. that was fun! probably the one that took the most time would have been drawing the compass activity,  and the one I found tricky was the square one, where we had to put the animals in the correct squares.. because I read the clues and got quiet confused on which animal went which square, but then I got some help and re read it and then realised what I had to do.

..||>>Cooking Activity<<||..

W.A.L.T

this week we have been doing a bunch of activities, and one the activities was to make dinner for your family provided proof that you actually cooked it and  how you cooked it, your family would also rate it on how good it looks, smells, and tastes.
_.....------...._
I decided I'll make potato chips and bread crumbed chicken, my mums made that dinner before and I have helped her make it sometimes. so for this activity I would do it all by my self.

I took some photos of  the potatoes, and my progress of cooking them.
first you get 4 potatoes ruffly a size that can fit into your hand, then you peel all of them and rinse the peeled potato with water, then you cut one of the potatoes in half then with those two half's you cut them in half again and with the half's you've cut, you can slice them so they look kind of like apple slices, then cut the potato slices into chip rectangles and repeat. when you've finished with that, put them in to a tray and get one and a half teaspoon of oil. tip that into the tray with the potatoes and mix them well so the oil gets everywhere in the potatoes. THEN get any herb.. you can smell and see if that herb will go good with the potatoes. I used oregano, and last time I made these I used sage. sprinkle your chosen herb and some salt (if you want.) mix them and shake so all the herb spreads all over  the potato. after that the final thing is to put it in for 30 minutes.

this is the part where I cooked the bread crumbed chicken, so first we cut up some chicken and get 3 pieces of paper towels and put some flower, and bread crumbs separately, then crack one egg into a bowl and whisk it. then all you've got to do is cover the chicken with flower, then dip it into the egg (so the breadcrumbs stick) then cover the chicken with breadcrumbs. then you're done! then poor some oil onto the pan and heat the stove, then you can place the finished chicken onto it, flip it side to side so that it can cook.... the one this is, is that you'll have to leave the chicken on their for longer depending on the width and how thick it is, it may cook the bread crumbs but make sure it cooks the chicken!

---~..~---
this is what the finished project looks like!
(the sauce was a sweet chilli sauce.. I didn't have a sauce but my mum did.)
I was kind of struggling when cooking the chicken because it was possible that it would spit hot oil at me, but that's fine. the chips weren't the best, because they were quiet thin and well they were just potato chips I guess, next time I will try and cut them a bit more better, and use a different herb..
I asked my mum and dad to vote out of 5 and...
-looks-
Mum:4/5
Dad:5/5
-taste-
Mum:5/5
Dad: 5/5

..⧈-Shapes-⧈..

.+*W.A.L.T*+.

Week 2 we are learning about geometry and shapes, What we had to do was copy a slide that had questions about shapes, it had 2d and 3d shapes for 2d, we had to how many lines of symmetry  and how many sides,  for 3d we had to find how many faces, side, vertices and edges. once we've finished we have to go back and mark it, and get the correct answers, the shapes I got wrong were...
    _∆_
-trapezoid (I didn't know the name of it.)
-Parallelogram gram (I didn't know the name of it.)
-symmetry lines for triangle
-called a rhombus a diamond.

.........

..NET..

Another shape task was to make a net..
A net in geometry is like the layout for a 3d shape, its the layout to make a 3d shape. what we had to do was make a net and put it together,
stuff  used to make mine:
-Paper
-scissors
-sellotape
-and a ruler.
(also sorry the Quality is very low on the camera.)
↓ the net. ↓
↓ the finished look. ↓
    ...Δ...
I used some black paper to do this, its.. semi falling apart and very small. I decided I would do a ''square pyramid" were its shape on the bottom is square.  I found it very easy to do such  a small shape with and easy net, I didn't want to do a cube because I thought heaps of others might of done one.

these two shape projects were really fun to do and helped with learning in shapes.
thank you for reading,!

..+<> ANZAC#1<>+..

.<>=ANZAC=<>.

So since it is April we have been learning about ANZAC (Australian, New Zealand Army Corps). and we had 4 activities to do related around ANZAC, I've decided to split it into 2 posts, each post caring the 2 different activities.

W.A.L.T

to make a diagram showing the difference between the people who went to war, and the people who stayed home and to show the similarity's.
If you can read it because its small, here's what it says:
on the left side is the solders and on the right side is the people who stayed home.
soldiers:
-They were put in a situation their lives were put in danger.
-Their food wasn’t the best
-they were fighting for their country.
               ❊
-they got infected  because of the environment they were in
-saw a lot of death
-unclean//un kept cloths
                         ❊
-sleeping in trenches.
-canaries in cages
  -gun fights
 ----------------
People who stayed home:
-fear that their loved one would die
-safer than the soldiers
-only could read letters not send them
-had clean cloths
              ❊
- the children
-they had more food.
-they had of fleeded the country
-they stayed at home
                         ❊
-sleeping in actual beds
-in there houses
-

Everyone had a hard  time when war was. The soldiers had to deal with absolutely unimaginable  pain, diseases, dead, shell shock, and much more. But their family also had to go through stuff as well, losing their loved ones. And sometimes even probably had to hide away. They both had contributed, nurses, soldiers and all.

._-Procedural writing-_.

.+W.A.L.T+.

For literacy we had an assignment about Procedural writing, were we had to pick a topic to very specifically  explain how to do that topic. as well as doing a piece of writing we also  do a video of us preforming  that topic  as well as subtitles to go along, there is also a rubric the teacher fills out when we've submitted it. I did my Procedural writing about ''how to protect your aviary budgies from mites:

_-Writing-_

_-Video-_

I filmed this video on a smaller device (a phone.) so the birds wouldn't get to scared, the quality is very low on the video, and the subtitles kept on going landscape and I didn't know how to adjust them.

the subtitles say: first get a bag of DE NZ (diatomaceous Earth New Zealand)

:Get a small cup and open the bag of DE NZ and get the cup and scoop some DE NZ Powder into the small cup.

:Bring the cup of DE NZ powder to the aviary and walk inside with the cup of powder, make sure close the door behind you!

: Pinch the powder in the cup and keep it on your fingers.

:use that finger that has the powder in them to smudge on the perches

:use that powder on your finger and smudge it on the perch

: do that to all perches

:and if you can, try get the powder on your fingers and carefully place it on the budgies

:If you have birds nests you can pinch the powder and rub it around the entry of the nest

         ↟
           here is the rubric.

..+<>Area and Perimeter<>+..

..-------------...
So for the past 5 days we've been doing learning in maths based around area and perimeter.
On Wednesday and Thursday we had assignments to do perimeter and area worksheets and then when we've finished those we did a Digital Learning Object  using area and perimeter.
what we had to do was draw out our house and measure all of the rooms (the area of the house) and the outside of the house (the perimeter of the house.) here's what I've done.
We are currently building a house so I've kind of seen what house plans tend to look like, but this is  of the house we're living in.  I used a bunch of colours for this, not that the rooms actually are those colours, I just used colours that reminded me of those rooms in the house, like how the kitchen has colours of yellow and green, I did those colours because their the colour of my favourite pasta (fettuccine.)
I started of sketching my room then I was basically running around the house looking at how the  rooms were exactly so could try and draw them exact, when I was finished  drawing the house I showed my mum and she said it was good except one thing, I had drawn the office in the wrong  space so there ended up being an empty room! but mum said that that empty room I had drawn was where the office really was, so I had a quick examine of the office and she was right so I sketched and adjusted the room mistake then came back to my mum and showed her, I was finished with my sketch so I compared it with the real house plan and it seemed pretty correct.

after I drew the house out digitally on google draw, my mum helped me measure all the rooms and then I had to times that area, which was the hard part. but my dad taught me a strategy of how to work it out it took a couple of tries but I finally got it, I would check to see if my answers were right with a calculator and if not mum would come and checked the answers and go through explaining that I had done wrong. I got the hang of it but I kept making mistakes like doing 0x4= 4 when it was 0 and I also often made this mistake: 3x3=6 when its 9 because I kept on forgetting its multiplication and not addition. I did that by hand but then it came to adding up all the rooms to find the total of the whole house area (not including the hallway thought.) I used a calculator for that one. For the perimeter mum helped me measure the outside wall then helped figure out the strategy, I ended up adding the total perimeter of the whole house by myself with only using a calculator to check if I was right but I did it by hand because finding the perimeter, to me it was easier that finding the area.

I am proud that I challenged my self to work out  these maths problems that I would of seen as hard and challenging and they were challenging but know how to do them.  I 'm happy I worked out these maths problems by hand,  (only for the area total I had used a calculator.) but now I know two new strategy's. this was a really cool project to do and very fun.

Total area of house (not including the hallway.): 98.4005 m2
Total Perimeter of house: 48.184 m

..+*The Rabbit proof fence*+..

-The Rabbit Proof Fence-
We watched a movie as a class about the British entering Australia and what had happened to the Native Australians
(the aboriginals)
The Movie was based off of 3 girls 6-12 and it was about what really happened to the aboriginals back in the day.
:W.A.L.T Write a story using the perspective of a half cast child in Australia.
- - - - - - - - - - -  - - - -
I've been taken, by strange people.. My hearts beating, my thoughts racing to horrible conclusions.  extremely stressed, I felt lonely. I didn't want to be taken... I didn't want this to be my fate. I arrived as a nice lady seems to greet me.. if I'll behave the'll treat me right. I was slightly relived that I wasn't the only child there, so that meant that they were going through the same thing as I , my eyes felt heavy. and if I was going to collapse. as I entered a cabin.  I was uncomfortable as others eyes pierced through me. the place was called 'Moore river''
Δ࿁☨࿁Δ
I was wondering how I would leave? I was to scared to leave. I stayed for 3 days constantly on edge as my thoughts wouldn't leave me alone . it was on the third day I remembered about the rabbit proof fence.. it stretched all the way to where I lived, it went everywhere. I waited till next morning when we went to prayer in the church, all of this was new to me, the assembly, the cloths.. and that weird meeting were they choose certain children to leave the Moore river. others say you can go to school if they let you, and learn to be like them.
ᴗˇ⇞ᴗˇ
the singing was distance, I chose to stay back... as other went to morning church. I dared to run for it across the path that was leading up to church.. they didn't see me.. I sprinted swiftly in between the trees, I've never ran so fast in my life. the wind blasted as I split through it. I slowed down, catching my breath I looked back, I may of stopped running but my thoughts didn't, I stared doubting if I have make the right choice. I don't know where to go, I don't have food or water! and no clue where the fence was!!
࿀◯࿀
I arrived at a river.. I took a quick drink, I was so scarred .. I don't know  if I should go back .. ''No'' I said to myself, I cant go back! the'll probably kill me if I do!  I have no choice but to find my own way home. I stopped.. frozen as I heard something , I quickly hid behind the bottom edge of the bridge , and peeked behind.. they were after me. I'd nearly fallen back, I didn't know where to hide! they're  were coming closer! I layed down in the swampy long grass in hopes of him going straight passed me. I waited a while, then I sound of the person on the horse trotting stopped, I kept hesitating.. to get up for not, I slowly emerged from the grass, he wan'st there, I ran off  into the hot desert.
↢☼↣
my feet ached, from walking on the hot sand.. until a little shadow in the distance.. A house! I ran over to the house. creeping around I found a chicken coop, ''eggs!'' I snuck in trying to gather as much eggs..''Aye you! what do you think your doing trying to steal my eggs?'' said a loud voice. I felt my heart drop, I slowly came out of the coop.. she said for me not to be scared... I walked over to her.. ''Ya know you could of just asked for food,'' she said, as if I knew that. she asked me where I came from and where I was going.. ''ah, your from that Moore river place,'' she said handing over a bag of food and a coat to disguise myself in.. ''hey, you be careful out there. I heard that the tracker they have at moore river is pretty good.'' she warned me.. ''.. do you know where the rabbit proof fence is..?'' I asked her. '' oh yeah! that thing goes all over the place! I think it west from here,.'' she replied then pointed in the direction.
''Now scram, before the tracker comes.''
»◯«
I walked and walked,  I was really quiet happy that not all of these new people are bad, and some were on our side. the hot sand burned on my feet, and my mouth was dry.  I wanted to find a spot of shade to cool down but there is no where I can. walking for hours and I still haven't been able to sit down and eat that was in the paper bag that the lady gave me, until I saw a big line in the distance, and I walked towards to see a fence. I threw myself onto the ground just beside the fence, the fence shaded were I was siting. it felt so good to sit down. I opened up my paper bag and ate the light brown fluffy loaf. (bread.) I deiced to rest. as I was letting my thoughts settle, I realised something... I looked to both my sides to see that this fence looked like it never ended.. could it be?? I was here! right next to the rabbit proof fence!! I felt a burst of glee as I closed my eyes, and slept.
៱↟☨↟៱
It was dawn, I got up and followed the fence, towards were the the sun came. walking, I revisited memories of at home.. playing with my family, my Mum, my Nana... I miss them, even though I had so much doubt that it would be nearly impossible for me to make it home, I still felt like I just have to keep going. I've been basically walking for the whole day now! I saw a couple of trees in the distance.. and A house. I wasn't sure if anyone was home so I skipped between the trees and soon found a cloths line with socks, shirts and coats.. I thought about how much my feet hurt and that some protection would be nice.. so I snatched the socks of. I decided I could maybe get some  water or food, but then when I took one step closer, I saw someone walking towards the door with a basket. hiding behind one of the bushes I saw her, she was like me. I stepped aside.. she saw me. I backed up into the tree as she slowly walked towards me. ''hey.. its okay'' she said in a soft voice. I walked slowly towards her. ''so you're from moore river? I was from that place as well.'' I was shocked. she welcomed into the house and let me eat and drink. she seemed really happy and really determent to look after me, but I needed to go I can't stay here. Night falls and she aloud me to sleep in one of the houses beds. but I was soon disturbed by the sound of a car arrive. I got up and quickly tried to get out of the house. I felt bad that I was going to leave her.. she was treating me how she wanted to be treated.
៴↡៴
As I ran across the backyard of the house, into the trees and out into the dark sky on the now, cold sand. I felt the cool air as I ran towards the many stars back to the fence to sleep. as woke I got up and started walking, with my new socks my feet didn't hurt from stones as much. The days became a pattern, walk, walk, sleep, wake up, walk walk. it continued, the days merged into one big blob of painful memories. I've come across others, and the more people I've talked to the more I resized that the moore river people were after me. the people I met along the way made me have more hope in myself, mainly because of how impressed the said they were. its been so long.. I worry I'm not going the right way.. I get so tired now, my throat is now sore and every time I swallow my own spit it stings. my ankles are as if there are going to snap and my eyes are heavy. I've lost hope.. I fell to the sand.. it hurt so much..I dozed of for a second then I started pushing myself to walk just walk.. then I heard something.. faded into the distance I lifted my head.. nothing. I got up and walked over a little sand hill with the support of the fence I stood there, seeing another house, but then.. I felt a wave of emotion wash over me, genuine sadness sunk in as I screamed for my mum.. ''Gracie!'' I heard in the distance.. I didn't realise but the excitement woke me up and I screamed and ran over to that house, seeing the figures run towards me, we clashed and hugged so tight. ''Mum!'' the tears cooled my cheeks. I honestly couldn't believe it!
I'm finely home.
